How to Begin Exercising After a Long Break
It's been ages since you last saw
the insides of a gym. And the very thought of exercising again makes you sweat.
Maybe you were injured, maybe you were busy with work, but now you have lost
that body tone and you are too lazy to start to get that body back in shape. No
doubt, the job is daunting but the more you hesitate the more you get out of
shape and harder it will be to get back to exercising.
The most important thing before
you hit the gym after a long hiatus is to consult your doctor. Get an overview
of your physical state and make sure your body is still capable of a strenuous
workout. It might even serve as a motivation for some to get fit, to drop that
cholesterol level, to lose that extra fat or any other health related issues.
The last thing you want to do at
this stage is to indulge in an explicit workout session. Start by simply
walking. Gradually switch over to a jog and then to bouts of sprinting
depending upon your comfort level. This makes your body accustomed to fatigue
and opens up your muscles. You might feel sore for a day or two but do not be
discouraged for it's a good thing as your body starts to adjust itself. Keep
the momentum going till it becomes a part of your daily routine
Get yourself a Personal trainer in Kogarah to assign
you a daily workout schedule. A trainer often helps when you lack the
motivation and can't seem to figure out where to start from. Set yourself goals
based upon your current fitness level and follow the regimes set by your
trainer rigorously. Make him follow up with you on a daily basis initially, to
assess your body and fitness level. This will help in making changes to your
fitness program, if necessary depending upon your progress.
Be careful of what you eat. It can
be difficult to arrange meal timings around your regime. You do not want to be
exercising with an empty stomach. Also, avoid eating for at least an hour
before exercising. Consult your Bootcampin Kogarah for a detailed diet chart and meal schedule.
People often tend to lose interest
in exercising because of the monotony. Maybe, you stopped exercising earlier
because you were too bored cycling or did not want to run on that treadmill
anymore. Try to spice up your workout. You can start by investing in new
clothing gear and footwear. Make sure you wear what you are most comfortable in
and not essentially go for the most expensive ones. Underwear is also worth
considering; make sure you wear supporters during extensive work outs. Another
way of motivating yourself is music. Studies have shown that music can push you
to exercise longer. There is nothing like listening to your favourite tracks
while working out in the gym or running. So, investing in a new iPod wouldn't
be a bad idea at all.
Hard work always pays off and the
hard work here is to stick to the schedule provided by your Boot Camp Kogarah. You do that and a
fitter and healthier you won't be a distant reality.
